Environmental Project Estimator

Responsibilities:

Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for large scale environmental remediation projects.  Specific job requirements include:

  • Knowledge of construction costs and engineering principles.
  • Ability to determine production, labor and equipment costs.
  • Preparation of accurate quantity takeoffs.
  • Soliciting price quotes from vendors and ability to evaluate subcontractor and material pricing.
  • Attending site walks and gathering site and project information.
  • Reviewing and understanding all bid documents.
  • Understanding project logistics, risks and schedules.
  • Reviewing quotes and estimates with the Project Management Team.
  • Participation in meetings with Clients, Owners, and Engineers.
  • Ensure timely completion of estimates.

Qualifications

  • Civil/environmental construction and estimating background.
  • Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications.
  • Ability to take ownership of an estimate and produce a complete and responsive bid.
  • Ability to estimate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Understanding of union labor a plus.
  • Experience pricing sheeting/shoring, piping, dewatering, excavation, concrete, and restoration work.
  • Basic understanding of environmental regulations and OSHA safety requirements.

Work Experience Needed:

Minimum of 7 years experience estimating environmental remediation, civil construction and site restoration projects with components including sheeting/shoring, piping, dewatering, deep excavation, concrete, take-offs and working with union labor.

Special Skills / Abilities Needed:

  • Excellent organizational, planning and analytical skills as well as oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills including the MS office suite of products, Scheduling Software and HCSS estimating software.
  • Ability to communicate effectively within the company and with clients and vendors.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Civil Engineering or Construction Management is preferred.
